Hey guys, we officially have a youtube channel! (cue cheers!) I’m working on our first all corps meeting video so that should be up soon, but so far all I am posting is a link to our orientation video on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGrZ3ZrS94Q It is pretty exciting. I chose the song because it is called “I won’t cause anything at all” by Hello, Lonely. And that is the epitome of irony because our very presence causes so much. Our very presence in our communities causes such inspiration. I thought that the title alone was so perfect that it would suit our orientation/introduction into the community perfectly. I’m sorry if you’re upset that I didn’t use Lil Wayne’s Lollipop as our introduction video, but hey… I chose to use something that kind of related to us. We are causing something friends. We are in this together, and we will continue to do this together. We are a family. We have to support each other through any trials and tribulations (another great song by LCD Soundsystem that you should check out) and that is what we are all about. I actually heard this song through vimeo. Kristen Schall (of Flight of the Conchords fame) used it in one of her vimeo videos and I fell in love with it. She used in a “video of my past year” kind of deal and when I heard it I though that is applied to us perfectly. The lyrics are just so perfectly ironic that I couldn’t avoid it. And when I edited the videos it fit so perfectly with the timing that it must’ve been some kind of “fate-ish” kind of deal. So always think of that Democracy House… while the lyrics may say “we won’t cause anything at all…” We are causing something… We cause hope in the people we volunteer for. Keep that spirit alive Democracy House, because we do cause a difference in people’s hearts. We show the world that there are people that care; and sometimes that is all that people need through struggling times. And I think we all know that these are times riddled with struggle…
